Criminal Background Checks

To help provide a safe learning environment, Stillwater Area Public Schools conducts criminal history background checks as required by Minnesota law.

Background checks are required for all district employees and individuals serving in positions that require a criminal history background check under state law, including athletic coaches and certain extracurricular activity coaches.

The district also requires criminal history background checks for volunteers, contractors, student employees, and other individuals who provide services in district schools or participate in school activities, as permitted by law and district policy. See background check form.
