ALC student named MN student of the year
Senior Sophia Giliuson has been named student of the year by the Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs! Giliuson was recognized for her outstanding dedication, service, and commitment to St. Croix Valley Area Learning Center which provides options for students who have experienced challenges succeeding in the formal school system.
Staff say Sophia is a strong leader who encourages her classmates and often tutors them.
“Not only is Sophia helpful with other students,” said one teacher, “but her demeanor and overall attitude is always positive and infectious. She is the top tier student every teacher wants in their classroom to set the bar high—and she will rise to any challenge given to her.”
