Note About Elementary Specialists and Grading
Please do not be concerned if the name of your child's classroom teachers isn't appearing on the report card. There was a technical glitch in the system that incorrectly identified some teachers. Be assured the actual grades on the report card are accurate and were submitted by your child's teacher.
Elementary students will not be receiving grades for art, media, music and physical education for Semester 1 due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our specialist teachers have not been able to equitably gather evidence of learning from all students due to the unique schedules and various modes of instructional delivery during this unique school year. Our art, media, music and physical education teachers have focused their attention during Semester 1 on engaging students in meaningful experiences, and have been incredibly creative and resourceful in doing so in both an online and hybrid learning format.
Grading for report cards is a challenging task in the best of times, and the complexities of education in a global pandemic have compounded some of those challenges. Our teachers have done their best to gather and analyze evidence of student learning while adapting to new educational contexts and reporting in a way that follows guidance from the Minnesota Department of Education of “do no harm.”
If you have any questions, you will have an opportunity to discuss students’ report cards, progress, and performance with your children’s teachers during winter conferences.
