Leadership Changes for Fall 2025

Stillwater Area Public Schools is making several changes in school leadership for the coming school year as we continue to build strong and supportive environments for students. 

Heather Murray to Take on a New Role at District Level
Heather Murray, Rutherford Elementary principal, will transition into a new role as principal on special assignment. She will work closely with staff at both Andersen and Lake Elmo as they prepare to move into new spaces in the fall of 2026. She’ll help coordinate the logistics and planning to ensure a smooth transition for staff, students and families. 

Note: This one-year position will be paid for from bond proceeds and will not impact the general fund.

Dr. Josh Krebs to Lead Rutherford Elementary
Dr. Josh Krebs, principal of Stillwater Middle School, will become the new principal of Rutherford Elementary. Dr. Krebs brings a strong background in instructional leadership and a commitment to supporting student learning at all levels. His experience in secondary education will be a great asset to the elementary leadership team as they work to build stronger connections between elementary and middle school.

Kristin Rolling Named Principal of Stillwater Middle School
Kristin Rolling, assistant principal at Brookview and Lake Elmo elementary schools, will step into the role of principal at Stillwater Middle School. She has served in various capacities across the district and is recognized as a collaborative and student-centered leader. She has already established strong relationships with the SMS community through her recent tenure as assistant principal.

Assistant Principal Position to be Posted
A vacancy for an assistant principal to serve both Brookview and Lake Elmo elementary schools will be posted in the near future.

Danielle McGill to lead St. Croix Valley Area Learning Center (ALC)
Danielle McGill will be serving as the dean of students at the St. Croix Valley ALC.  For the past several years, Danielle has served as the district’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) coordinator and worked to develop and implement behavior and academic supports within our classrooms. In her new role, she will oversee day-to-day operations and support our ALC students. 

Note: As a result of a retirement, the dean position will be replacing the ALC principal position. This will be a cost savings to the general fund.

These changes are part of our ongoing efforts to capitalize on the strengths of our leadership team and ensure we are best positioned to meet the diverse needs of our learners.
